BAMYA (MEAT WITH OKRA)
I love Arabian food. It's so palatable and mild in spices. This dish is the gastronomic delight of Egypt. Ingredients
- 1/2 kg. beef, cut up
- 1/4 c. oil
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 kg. okra, chopped
- 3 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. MSG
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
Directions
- Cover beef with enough water in a pan. Pressure cook for 30 minutes or until tender. Set aside.
- Saute onions and garlic in hot oil until light brown.
- Add okra. Fry for 5 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste. Season with salt, MSG and black pepper. Stir fry for 1 minute.
- Mix beef and broth. Simmer until sauce thickens.
