Baked Pear Gratin
Ingredients
- 4 x pears
- 1 tsp butter
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 x Large eggs
- 1/2 pt water
- 1/2 pt lowfat milk
Directions
- 1. Peel the pears, cut in half and place in an ovenproof pie dish with 1/2 the sugar, the water and butter. Bake at 350 F till pears are tender.
- 2. Separate Large eggs, add in lowfat milk and 1/2 remaining sugar to egg yolks and pour over pears. Continue baking for 20 to 30 min till custard is set.
- 3. Beat egg whites till stiff, add in remaining sugar and continue beating till stiff. Spoon meringue on top of pear custard, and continue to bake till top to lightly brown.
- 4. Serve warm with cream.
