  • Apple Dolma

    Ingredients

    • A semi sweet side dish for ham, pork or possibly turkey! Apples as needed
    • 1/2 c. rice
    • 1/2 c. raisins
    • 1/4 x teapoon cinnamon 4 c. boiling water
    • 1 tsp Kosher salt
    • 1 c. granulated sugar
    • 1/4 c. melted butter

    Directions

    1. Cut off tops of apples and set asideTake out core of apple and leave a 1 to 1 1/2 inch diameter reservoir to allow for filling. Sprinkle about 1/4 of the sugar into the apple reservoirs Add in salt and rice to the boiling water and cook covered for 10 min.
    2. Add in raisins and cook for 5 min more
    3. Remove from the fire and pour off water and then add in cool water over mix to cold, and then strainAdd 1/4 c. sugar, cinnamon and butter to the mix Fill the apples with the mix and add in a healthy pinch of cinnamon to the top of each. Replace the apple tops and arrange in a baking dish.
    4. Add in 2 c. of boiling water, to that the remaining sugar has been added, to the baking dish.
    5. Cover baking dish and bake in a 350 degree oven till the apples are soft.
    6. (Baste apples occasionally with the liquid. When apples are nearly cooked, remove cover and bake uncovered for approximately 10 min. total baking time is about 40 min
