  • Apple Chocolate Fudge Cake With Apple Fluff Frosting

    Ingredients

    • 3 sqr unsweetened chocolate
    • 1 1/4 c. Lowfat milk - divided
    • 1 1/2 c. Sugar - divided
    • 1 c. Canned apple sauce
    • 1 tsp Vanilla
    • 2 c. Flour
    • 1 tsp Soda
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1/2 c. Shortening
    • 3 x Large eggs
    • 2 pkt Dream Whip
    • 1/2 c. Cool lowfat milk
    • 1/2 c. Cool canned applesauce
    • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

    Directions

    1. Mix chocolate, 1/2 c. lowfat milk and 1/2 c. sugar in saucepan; cook and stir till thick and smooth. Stir in apple sauce and vanilla, cold. Combine and sift dry ingredients. Cream shortening with remaining 1 c. sugar; blend in Large eggs one at a time. Alternately add in dry ingredients and remaining 3/4 c. lowfat milk to creamed mixure. blending well after each addition. Blend in chocolate mix.
    2. Turn batter into 2 greased and floured 8" layer pans. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. or possibly till done. Split each cooled layer to make 4 layers.
    3. Apple Fluff Frosting: Beat topping mix with lowfat milk. When mix begins to stiffen and form peaks, add in applesauce and vanilla. Beat till hard sufficient to spread.
    4. Makes about 3 c..
    5. Apple Cream Frosting:Beat together 1 large pkg (8 ounce) cream cheese, 4 c. 10X sugar and 1 Tbs. grated lemon rind. When mix is fluffy, stir in 2 to 3 Tbs. canned applesauce; chill. Spread between and on top layers
