About me

I've been married 38 years to the same great guy, raised two wonderful, fairly normal children (now 30 & 32) & have led a somewhat interesting & unconventional life. Our son is getting married in the fall of 2016 and our daughter (the lawyer) now works for the Texas Environmental Commission on Quality. So, they are both (finally) making it on their own. I lived in Aspen, CO for 15 years (18 if you count the in and out years), on the Hawaiian Island of Kuai for a year, and now in Texas for 39 years. I mostly do whatever I want, which often involves cooking, reading or playing golf. Now that we have an *empty nest*, it's almost like starting over. We're having the time of our lives and enjoying every minute of it. I'm a Jack of All Trades and after growing up in my family, I can survive anything.

When the children were young I had no sense of how to really cook but I never allowed them to drink sodas (they got it at other kids' houses) and never forced SPAM on them. I get points for that, right? When they were off to live their own lives we became cooking enthusiasts and began a new adventure... with food.

In 2013 I fell ill with bacterial meningitis but thankfully survived after a 3 month hospital stay. After that, it became very important to us what we were putting in (or not putting in) our bodies. I'm just now slowly getting back into cooking. The hubby has been doing most of it and has gotten me back to good health. It's difficult changing from eating bad foods to good foods, especially in your 60's. However, I no longer need high blood pressure or cholesterol medications, which says a lot.

Anyway, I plan to offer more healthy meals in the future and hope you will enjoy them. I believe that everything we need, to heal us, is right here from this earth that we take so much for granted.
