About me

I've been cooking since I was a teenager and was a very picky eater growing up. I've, in recent years, started to love vegetables of all kinds and try to incorporate them in most of my dishes.

In 2009, I had made a New Year's Resolution to try one new recipe a week. I was doing great until September 18th. I was involved in a near-fatal car accident that left me with a broken neck, a compound fracture on my left arm, and a head wound that required 40 staples and 26 stitches. Doctors told me that I may never get full use of my left arm again. When asked what it was that I wanted to be able to do again with my arm, I responded with, 'I want to be able to cook again'.

I have since recovered (only suffering with some issues with my arm), and I am proud to say that I was able to complete my 2009 'resolution' in 2010. This time, with pictures. I documented a year's worth of new recipes (and some that I didn't get pictures of) on Facebook. I also started a website (http://lexingtoncooking.net), and have made a community cookbook (friends and family contributed) which will be published in February.

Cooking has become such a big part of my life. I love making new dishes and love watching people eat. I love to see the reactions (good or bad). It gives me so much enjoyment. I would love to someday have my own small restaurant.

I have recently started making theme dinners for a nice stay-at-home dinner and a movie with my boyfriend. It all started when I found out he had never seen "The Goonies". I did a somewhat of a Cuban theme and decorated our basement for the movie. I made a brochure menu with what would be served and e-mailed it to him early that morning. When he got home from work, we ate, watched the movie and the dinner theme was the star of the night!
