About me

I started making Beignets and Cafe au lait at the Shreveport Farmers' Market 4 years ago in part as research for my final project requirement for my MBA and also because... I had a foodie itch. Now I can't stop and have added festivals and private events as they come around.

Cooking brings me joy and cooking for others just multiplies that joy. I have a few private chef arrangements that help satisfy some of those other cooking desires.

I also write a food blog too which helps with the foodie cravings...I am a Curious Southern Foodie on a journey to learn...and to create exceptional dining experiences. I love entertaining and preparing food for loved ones & friends and sharing those experiences with others.

Cooking Influences

My Mother Joan -
I am the daughter of a wonderful lady who happened to teach high school Home Economics. I had cooking lessons every day of my life growing up and by the time I was in high school would often have dinner ready (or at least started) for the family when they came home at the end of the day.

Grandmothers Mary and Thelma -
If there ever was a Hall of Fame for true Southern Cooks, both Grandmothers would be among them. I learned so much from both of these ladies. I remember helping make pies with Mary when I couldn't have been more than 4. Thelma was famous for her fried chicken and I helped her too...time after time, year after year. They both had their favorite well-seasoned black iron skillets and I do too. I miss cooking with them.

My Daughter Sara -
I am a happily married 5 year newlywed...but before that it was the two of us, just Sara and me. Now she is 25 and teaching me a thing or two... especially about being artistic. I loved cooking for her as she was growing up and now with her. The influences of Joan, Mary and Thelma are present in all of our creations.

My Husband Neil -
That man hung the moon as far as I am concerned and I would do anything to please him. He is perfectly delighted with whatever culinary creation I concoct. We entertain a good bit and he helps me to stretch and grow by being a supportive partner in all endeavors...food or otherwise, he inspires me to be my best.

...and then of course there's JULIA -
You know that story.
