About me

I love cooking and baking. The kitchen is the heart of the home and where we all gather, so that's where I like to play. Lucky for me, I've got a revolving door of willing guinea pigs in the area to share my creations with - the tried and true, as well as the experimental. :)

Cooking Influences

My early influences were my (Armenian) Mom and her Mom. It was always fascinating to me watching them work with things like phyllo dough and grape leaves. Of course it wasn't quite as much fun when I went to school with lunches the rest of the kids thought were from another planet. LOL

Being a big mystery buff from an early age, my next cooking influence was that master of the culinary world (ahem) ... Nancy Drew! I still remember getting that cookbook for Christmas when I was 8 or 9. I think "The Case of the Smothered Pork Chops" was the first dinner I ever made.

I branched out considerably since then, but you'll be hard pressed to ever find a seafood recipe on my blog. It's tough growing up on/around Cape Cod, then living in New Orleans for several years and manage to stay away from seafood. I'll eat a shrimp or two now and again, maybe a bite of lobster in the summer, but that's about it.

My influences now are my many foodie friends and vendors. Someone will pose a challenge, or a vendor will offer up a sample, and that will send my mind wandering. I love it!!! Maybe you'll be my next source of inspiration. :)
