About me

I have had a passion for food all my life. It is only recently had the epiphany that I should pursue a food career. So, at nearly 50, I'm attending culinary school at my local community college.

The blog will cover my journey through school, my progress starting a catering business, and whatever other food related subject catches my eye.

Cooking Influences

My first influences were my mother and my grandmother. Almost all of my memories of my grandmother are about food. She was an amazing cook, who made hearty, robust food. She earned her stripes cooking on a ranch. Her food definitely was never fussy.

My mother taught me thrift. We were never rich, but never ate poorly. I learned to use everything, and that a good chef makes the best out of what they have.

I've been inspired by Alton Brown. Here is a person that had one career, chucked it all because of his passion for food. He made a success of a second career. I hope I can do the same.
