The Singapore Sling was created at Raffles Hotel at the turn-of-the-century by a Hainanese-Chinese bartender named Mr. Ngiam Tong Boom. Originally, the Sling was meant as a ladies' drink, hence the pink color. Today, it's a tourist attraction!

    Ingredients

    • 30ml Gin
    • 15ml Heering Cherry Liqueur
    • 120ml Pineapple Juice
    • 15ml Lime Juice
    • 7.5ml Cointreau
    • 7.5ml Dom Benedictine
    • 10ml Grenadine
    • A dash of bitters

    Directions

    1. Blend all ingredients and garnish with a slice of Pineapple and Cherry.

When we were in Singapore we did the requisite tourist trip to Raffles for the Singapore Sling. Very tasty, but definitely expensive `$20US/drink when I was there in May 08! The hotel proved the perfect spot to relax and soak up the ambiance.
