This is my version of steamed cabbage rolls. I wanted the filling to mimic a spicy steamed dumpling filling. You could use this filling in dumpling wrappers as well and I think it would be very good but more calories.

    Ingredients

    • 8 napa cabbage leaves
    • 8 green onion stems, bulbs removed
    • 1/2 lb ground turkey breast (could use chicken or pork)
    • 5 large shrimp, chopped
    • 1/8 tsp sesame oil
    • 2 tablespoon onions, chopped
    • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
    • 1/8 tsp thai chili flake (more to taste)
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt dash black pepper

    Directions

    1. First blanch the cabbage leaves and green onions in boiling water until they're pliable, about 10 to 20 seconds. I used the water in the pot that I was putting my bamboo steamer on.
    2. Prepare the stuffing ingredients by mixing the ground meat, shrimp, onion, chili flake, salt, pepper. Then stir in the green onions.
    3. Stuff the cabbage by placing 1/8th of the stuffing mixture onto each of the cabbage leaves, tucking in the sides, and rolling it. Then tie up each roll with the green onion.
    4. Place the cabbage rolls into a steamer. Cover the steamer and steam for 25 minutes.
