Steak and Onion Pie
One of Aunt Gladys' recipes! Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. stew meat
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- dash of ginger
- dash of allspice
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 2 1/2 cups hot water
- 2 cups potatoes, diced
- 1/2 recipe plain pastry
Directions
- Roll meat in mixture of flour, salt, pepper, paprika, ginger and allspice.
- Brown in hot oil.
- Add onions and cook until light yellow.
- Add water, cover and simmer until meat is tender. About 1 1/2 hrs.
- Heat oven to 450 degrees
- Add potatoes and turn into a greased shallow casserole.
- Cover with the pastry and bake in oven for crust is nicely browned, about 20-25 minutes
