Spicy Sweet & Sour Meatballs
Prep: 20 min Cook: 4 hours Servings: 4by Shawna Hill4 recipes>An old pot luck favorite, the sweet and sour meatball filled crock. I have given the old recipe a bit of spice and a lot of flavor. This went over very well with the entire family for dinner served over white rice. Ingredients
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup steak sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 cup grape jelly
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 beaten egg
Directions
- Whisk together barbecue sauce, steak sauce, ketchup, lemon juice, grape jelly, and water.
- Whisk in 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and chili powder.
- Pour into a slow cooker and set it on low, or into a large pot on the stove.
- Simmer until warm.
- Mix milk, worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, onion, 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and oregano.
- Add beef and mix together.
- Add egg and mix together well.
- Form into 1 inch balls and drop into warmed simmering sauce.
- Simmer on stove for 2 to 3 hours; or in slow cooker on high for 4 to 5 hours; or in slow cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours.
- Serve over rice.
