Spicy Shrimp Fra Diablo
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil
- 3 x Cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 med Onion, minced
- 15 ounce Can tomato puree
- 6 ounce Can tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp. Red wine
- 1/2 c. Water
- 1 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 tsp Liquid removed capers
- 2 Tbsp. Chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1 1/2 lb Medium shrimp, peeled and
- Deveined
- Cooked rice or possibly pasta
Directions
- In a heavy skillet, heat extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add in the garlic and onion and saute/fry 5 min. Add in the tomato puree, tomato paste, red wine and water. Bring to a boil. Add in the crushed red pepper flakes, capers and basil. Lower the heat and simmer 15 min. Add in the shrimp and cook over low heat 7 to 10 min, or possibly till the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
- Serve over warm cooked pasta or possibly rice.
