This is a classic family recipe passed down through the generations. I don't have exact measurements for everything because most things are just "eye balled".

    Ingredients

    • 2 quarts canned tomatoes
    • 1 green pepper - chopped
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 2 - 3 cloves garlic - minced
    • 1 onion - chopped
    • 3 celery stalks - sliced
    • 1 to 1 1/2 cups mushrooms - sliced
    • 1 to 3 cans of tomato paste (this depends on how long you boil it down and the consistency you prefer)
    • basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, salt, pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Brown beef with onions and garlic
    2. Drain off fat
    3. Add tomatoes and seasonings - bring to a boil
    4. Add green peppers, celery and mushrooms
    5. Simmer over low to medium heat to let the sauce boil down
    6. The longer you simmer the less tomato paste you have to add and the better the flavors are
    7. Add tomato paste and bring to a boil, mixing well
    8. Serve over pasta and top with parmesan cheese or shredded cheddar or mozzarella if desired.

I thought you were from Canada...
Then what the hell is one pound ground beef?
Should it not me 500 g of ground beef?
