Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls
Prep: 15 min Cook: 25 min Servings: 12by Deena3 recipes>These cinnamon rolls require a sourdough starter. I use a potato based sourdough starter and the one I have has been passed down to me and it's estimated to be over 35 years old! Ingredients
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 cup Sourdough Starter
- 1/4 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 cups King Arthur unbleached all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon yeast
- Filling:
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
- Glaze:
- 4 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1 cup confectioner's sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2-3 tablespoons vanilla coffee creamer
Directions
- Place all ingredients in your bread machine
- Set for "dough"
- Mix all ingredients for filling together in a small bowl and set aside
- At the end of the cycle, remove the dough from your machine.
- Lightly grease a cake pan. I use spray oil.
- On a lightly floured board roll out the dough to a 9"x12" rectangle.
- Spread the filling up to within an inch of the edges.
- Roll from one edge and seal edge with water.
- Cut into 12 pieces.
- Place in cake pan.
- Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
- As cinnamon rolls are cooling prepare the glaze by mixing all of the ingredients until it is the consistency of a glaze.
- Pour or spoon over the cinnamon rolls.
- Enjoy!
