Simple Yellow Dal
Simple Indian lentil soup - great served with rice and yogurt. Masoor dal is actually a little orange in color when you buy it but turns yellow after cooking! Ingredients
- 1/2 cup yellow lentils (Masoor dal)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tomato
- 1/2 tsp whole cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 green chili
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp cilantro
Directions
- Boil lentils in water with salt, sugar and turmeric
- In separate pan, fry chopped garlic, chopped chili, chopped tomato and jeera in oil
- Combine ingredients and boil for 15-20 minutes
- Top with cilantro and serve over rice
