Simple family tacos
My kids love tacos and this is a really simple and healthy way to get everyone around the table; even for busy mom's and dad's! Ingredients
- 1lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 head of lettuce
- 3 medium tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded mexican cheese blend
- 8 taco shells
- Low fat sour cream
- Salsa
- Taco Seasoning:
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp each of: cumin, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
Directions
- Mix together all taco seasoning ingredients in bowl or cup and set aside
- Brown turkey in oil - make sure you use a wooden spoon to break up turkey while cooking
- Add water and seasoning and mix
- Bring water to boil
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes
- Chop lettuce and tomatoes, place in separate bowls
- Place cheese in a bowl
- Heat shells at 325 degrees for 5 minutes
- Assemble your tacos!
