Applesauce is more than just a side item, it has all kinds of uses; you can eat it warmed up in a bowl for breakfast, Warmed up on Ice Cream as a topping, or on a biscuit which makes it taste like pie. Yum! What are some of the ways that you like to serve it?

    Ingredients

    • 4 Granny Smith Apples
    • 2 Gala Apples
    • 2 Braeburn Apples
    • 1 1/2 Cup Water
    • 1/2 Cup Sugar
    • 1 tsp Ground Saigon Cinnamon
    • 2 tsp Lemon Juice

    Directions

    1. I like an assortment of Apples, with different flavors and textures, some tart, some sweet, all delicious.
    2. Braeburn Apples; have a unique combination of sweet and tart flavor.
    3. Gala Apples; Sweet and grainy, with a mild flavour and a thinner skin than most apples.
    4. And my favorite, Granny Smith Apples; are crisp, juicy and tart apples with a firm texture.
    5. Wash all of your apples in Vegetable Wash and dry with a paper towel.
    6. Cut the apples in large chunks and place all off your apples in a 3 Quart Pot.
    7. Add Water, Sugar, Cinnamon and Lemon Juice to the apples
    8. Stir all of your ingredient together and let cook on medium heat for 20 minutes until soft
    9. Make sure to stir about every 5 minutes to keep from burning.
    10. Once cooked remove from heat and mash the Apples while still warm.
    11. Mash by hand until creamy
    12. I use a Dough Sifter, but you can use a Fork or Potato Masher
    13. Just don't use an electric mixer or they’ll be too watery.
    14. While still warm put into small plastic containers with lids and sprinkle with Cinnamon.
    15. This makes about 7 small portions that you can grab on the go.
    16. Enjoy!
