Puff Pastry Fried Apple Tarts are the perfect little treat. Tender slices of apples with just the right amount of sweetness, laced with cinnamon, all in a flaky shell.

    Ingredients

    • For the tart shells:1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
    • For the Fried Apples:4 apples (peeled and sliced)
    • 1/4 cup butter
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
    • 2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

    Directions

    1. For the Fried Apples: Over medium heat melt butter in a heavy bottomed skillet
    2. Add the sugar and spices
    3. Let the sugar melt
    4. Add the apple slices, stir to coat well
    5. Cook for approx. 12 minutes.
    6. Apples should be soft but not mushy
    7. Set aside to cool
    8. For the Tarts: Preheat oven to 375º F
    9. Prepare a tart/muffin pan (I used a 12 cup size pan)
    10. Slightly roll thawed puff pastry
    11. Using a round cutter, cut out discs of dough
    12. Place each disc in the pan
    13. Evenly divide cooled apples among the shells
    14. Top each tart with cutout (optional)
    15. Bake for 20 minutes
    16. Remove from oven, and allow to cool in pan
    17. Carefully remove tarts from pan, and place on a cooling rack
    18. ENJOY!!
