    Ingredients

    • 1 cup butter, softened
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/2 tsp almond extract
    • 2 1/4 cups flour
    • 1/3 cup baking cocoa
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 pkg (10 to 12 oz.) vanilla or white chips

    Directions

    1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and both of the sugars until light and fluffy.
    2. Add the eggs, one at a time.
    3. Beat well after each addition.
    4. Beat in the extract.
    5. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
    6. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
    7. Set aside 1/4 cup vanilla chips
    8. Stir the remaining chips into the batter.
    9. Spread into a greased 15 x 10 inch baking pan
    10. Sprinkle with the reserved chips
    11. Bake at 375 F for 18-23 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
    12. Cool on a wire rack.
    13. Cut into bars
