  • Overnight Apple French Toast

    Ingredients

    • 1 c. Brown sugar
    • 1/2 c. Butter or possibly margarine
    • 2 Tbsp. Corn syrup
    • 2 lrg Tart apples -- peeled and
    •     Sliced
    • 3 x Large eggs
    • 1 c. Lowfat milk
    • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
    • 9 slc Day old French bread -- 3/4
    •     Inch

    Directions

    1. ***Syrup*** 1 c. applesauce 1 jar apple jelly - 10 ounces 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. cloves
    2. In a small saucepan, cook brown sugar, butter and syrup till thick, about 5 to 7 min. Pour into an ungreased 9 x 13 pan; arrange apples on top.
    3. In a mixing bowl, beat Large eggs, lowfat milk and vanilla. Dip bread slices into the egg mix for 1 minute; place over apples. Cover and chill overnight. Remove from the refrigerator 30 min before baking. Bake, uncovered at 350 for 35 to 40 min. Combine syrup ingredients in a medium saucepan; cook and stir till warm. Serve over French toast.
