    Ingredients

    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1 cup shortening
    • 2 eggs
    • Juice and Zest of 2 Oranges, divided
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 1 tbsp baking soda
    • 5 cups flour
    • 2 tbsp baking powder
    • 1/8 tsp salt
    • 16 oz. pkg. powdered sugar
    • 2 tbsp butter, melted

    Directions

    1. Mix the sugar, shortening, eggs, juice and zest of one orange, and the sour cream.
    2. Sift together the baking soda, flour, baking powder, and salt.
    3. Add to the egg mixture.
    4. Drop by tablespoonfuls on an ungreased baking sheet.
    5. Bake at 350 F for 7 to 8 minutes.
    6. To make the frosting, mix together the remaining zest and the juice, powdered sugar, and butter.
    7. Frost the cookies when cool
