New England Style Corn Chowder (Crock Pot Recipe)
Based on my Mom's corn chowder recipe and adapted to crock pot cooking. The ultimate comfort food for a rainy, winter night. Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon of butter
- 1/2 of 1 medium sized onion, chopped
- 3 medium sized potatoes, diced, peeled
- 1 can of whole kernel corn
- 2 cans of cream-style corn
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 2/3's of a quart of whole milk
- 3/4 cup water
Directions
- Chop and dice onion
- Peel and dice potatoes
- In the microwave, cook bacon until crisp
- Add butter to a pan and sauté onion and potatoes for 5 minutes
- Combine all ingredients in your crock pot.
- Stir together well
- Place cover on your crock pot
- Cook on LOW setting for 5 to 6 hours
- Two hours before serving, blend 1/2 of the chowder to make a creamier chowder
- Add more celery salt and fresh ground black pepper to your taste
