  • Moist Apple Butter Bread

    Be sure to use a good rich apple butter as it spices and moistens this delectable loaf. After baking, allow the loaf to sit overnight so that the flavors intermingle and so that the loaf crumbles less when sliced.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup milk
    • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
    • 2 eggs, beaten
    • 2 cups apple butter
    • 2 cups unprocessed bran (oat bran is excellent)
    • 1/2cup packed brown sgar
    • 1 cup raisins
    • 3 cups whole wheat flour
    • 1 tablesoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt

    Directions

    1. Combine the first 7 ingredients and let sit for 5 minutes.
    2. Add the last 3 ingredients and mix well.
    3. Spoon into two greased 9x5 inch loaf pans.
    4. Bake at 350'F for 45 minutes.
