This pie tastes and looks amazingly like a real apple pie! I have made it several times for friends and family, and surprised them when I told them it was crackers! If you don't crush or mix the crackers, then when it is baked and cut, it looks like layers of apples in each slice.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups warm water
    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 2 heaping teaspoons cream of tartar
    • 27 Ritz crackers-do not crush
    • 2 tablespoons butter,cut in small pieces
    • sprinkle of cinnamon
    • homemade pie crust or 1 package of ready to use refrigerated pie crusts

    Directions

    1. Bring to boil first 3 ingredients
    2. Add Ritz crackers, and boil 2 minutes exactly.
    3. Do not stir.
    4. Quickly,pour into a 9 inch pie crust,and dot with butter
    5. The mixture will look real watery,so be careful when putting in the oven.
    6. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
    7. Add top crust.
    8. Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees F.
    9. then 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.
