    • 1 x green pepper minced
    • 1 env dry onion soup mix
    • 1 can tomato sauce - (8 ounce)
    • 1/2 c. barley
    • 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
    • 2 Tbsp. fresh oregano minced (or possibly 1/2 tspn dry oregano)
    • 2 Tbsp. fresh basil minced (or possibly 1/2 tspn dry basil)
    • 2 sprg fresh thyme (or possibly 1/2 tspn dry thyme)
    • 1/2 tsp paprika
    • 1 x bay leaf
    • 1 Tbsp. seasoned salt
    • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
    • 1/2 c. minced fresh parsley (or possibly 2 tbspns dry parsley)
    • 1 pkt small alphabet-shaped pasta - (7 ounce) (can substitute other small pasta like orzo shells or possibly macaroni, if you like)

    Directions

    1. Brown the grnd beef in a frying pan. Drain off the fat. You can reduce fat content even further by placing the beef in a colander and running warm water over it. Put the beef and all ingredients except the alphabet pasta into the crockpot. Add in water to within 1 inch of the top of the crockpot. Cook on HIGH for 8 hrs.
    2. About 15 min before serving, add in the alphabet pasta to the crockpot and continue cooking till pasta is done. Serve with fresh, soft rolls.
    3. Comments: This is for a 5-qt crockpot. Cut down the proportions if you have a smaller crockpot.
