- 500 g bread flour
- 250 g wholewheat flour
- 400 ml water
- Little milk
- 1 egg
- 50 g butter
- 1 cube fresh yeast (7g)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
Directions
- Crumble fresh yeast into warm water mixed with milk and sugar. Leave in a warm place to bubble.
- Sift flours into a larger bowl, add salt and stir.
- Rub the butter into the flour, add egg.
- Add the bubbled yeast to flour, mix and combine, then knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and leave in a warm place to rise for 20-30 minutes or cover the (plastic) bowl with a transparent foil, poke a few holes in it and put in a microwave on MAX for 10 seconds. Then leave in a warm place to rise for 20-30 minutes.
- When dough is doubled, knead it briefly on a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into tennis ball pieces, arrange in the baking pan lined with parchment paper, cover and leave to rise some more.
- Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
