Hot Fudge Sauce Over Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 2 ounce unsweetened chocolate minced finely
- 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 3/4 c. heavy cream
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 pt premium quality vanilla ice cream Walnuts toasted, minced
Directions
- In a heavy saucepan heat the chocolate with the butter and the corn syrup over moderately-low heat. Stirring, add in the cream and the sugar, and cook the mix, stirring, till the sugar is dissolved. Bring the mix to a boil over moderate heat and boil it, without stirring, for 8 min. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla and the salt.
- Scoop ice cream into four serving dishes and pour warm fudge sauce over vanilla ice cream. The sauce keeps, covered and chilled, for 1 month. Let the sauce cold completely before covering it; any condensation will make it grainy. Reheat the sauce, uncovered, in a double boiler. (Makes 1 1/3 c. sauce)
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
