    Ingredients

    • 2 ounce lowfat milk chocolate (2 to 3)
    • 1 tsp butter
    • 1/4 tsp vanilla
    • 1 c. half and half or possibly cream

    Directions

    1. (The above ingredients make a 1 c. serving of warm chocolate.)
    2. In a double boiler, combine lowfat milk chocolate, butter, and vanilla. Stir together till chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Then add in half-and-half or possibly cream.
    3. Add in the half-and-half slowly, incorporating it gradually as it heats. Don't boil. If you wish, serve over a handful of miniature marshmallows and garnish with a dash of nutmeg.
    4. Variations:Substitute dark (semi-sweet) chocolate or possibly white chocolate (very elegant). Also try adding liqueurs: Kahl a to lowfat milk chocolate, Cointreau to dark chocolate, or possibly peppermint schnapps to go with white chocolate.
    5. NOTES : We got this recipe from the Frugal Gourmet. It's so good we have to pass it on It makes powdered warm chocolate taste pale and lifeless by comparison. Great on cool winter nights, sharing with those you love. As you can tell by reading the recipe, this is not the most healthful drink. But go on, indulge yourself once in awhile. If desired white chocolate, try it with which. I call it Nectar of the Gods. - Jamie
