A hibiscus iced tea made with dried hibiscus flowers you have either picked and dried yourself or dried flowers you purchased. This tastes sweet and delicious on a hot summer day. It contains a lot of antioxidants, vitamin C and helps lower blood pressure.

    Ingredients

    • 4 whole huge hibiscus dried flowers or 10 small or 8 medium
    • 1 liter boiling water
    • 4 cups cold water
    • Juice of one lemon
    • 1/4 tsp baking soda
    • The zest of one lemon
    • 1/8 tsp cinnamon powder
    • 1 to 1 1/2 cups white sugar OR the natural sweetener of your choice OR zero calorie sweetener of your choice.
    • Optional: 1/8 tsp ginger powder

    Directions

    1. Boil 1 liter of water. Pour over the dried hibiscus flowers. Cover and steep between 15 and 20 minutes. Cool and strain. Add 1/4 tsp baking soda. Add 4 cups of cold water. Gradually add the sugar or natural sweetener or zero calorie sweetener, adjusting to your taste. Add the lemon juice and the cinnamon. Stir and refrigerate until cold. When ready to serve, add lots of ice and mix well in a tall pitcher. Enjoy!
    2. Optional: you can add 1/8 tsp ginger powder if you like ginger.
