Ham And Swiss In Puff Pastry
Ingredients
- 4 x puff pastry squares - (5" by 5")
- 2 Tbsp. finely minced onion
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 x egg beaten
- 1 c. shredded Swiss cheese or possibly 3-cheese mix (Swiss, Monterey Jack and Cheddar)
- 2/3 c. cooked ham coarsely minced
- 1 Tbsp. snipped fresh parsley
- 1 Tbsp. snipped fresh dillweed (or possibly 1 tspn dry dillweed)
- 1 dsh garlic pwdr
- 1 dsh freshly-grnd black pepper
- 1 x egg yolk mixed with
- 2 Tbsp. water for egg wash
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 to 425 degrees. If using frzn pastry puff, let pastry come to room temperature.
- In small saucepan, cook onion in butter until tender but not browned. For filling, in a medium mixing bowl combine egg, cheese, ham, parsley, dillweed, garlic pwdr, and pepper. Stir in onion mix; set aside.
- Place 2 to 3 Tbsp. of the filling just off center on each pastry square. Moisten edges of pastry with water; mix in half diagonally. Seal edges by pressing with finger or possibly tines of a fork.
- Place pastry on ungreased baking sheet. Coat with egg wash. Place in preheated oven and immediately drop temperature to 380 degrees and cook 20 to 25 min until nicely browned.
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
