Greek Walnut Cake

- 2 Cups Bisquick Flour
- 1 Cup grandulated sugar
- 1 1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/2 Tsp. Baking soda
- 2 Tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 Tsp. Nutmeg
- 1 Tsp. Cloves
- Zest of one orange
- 4 Eggs
- 1 Cup milk
- 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 Cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- Syrup:
- 1 Cup sugar
- 1 Cup Honey
- 1 Cup water
- 2 Sticks cinnamon
- Few whole cloves
Directions
- Make your syrup first, by placing all ingredients in a heavy saucepan, bring to a boil and allow to cook for 8-10 minutes and is thickened
- Let this cool completely as you bake your cake.
- Cake:
- Combine all the cake ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Pour into a buttered 9 X 13 baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
- When cake is done, remove from oven and pour cool syrup all over the cake. Allow to sit over night and serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
