    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
    • 1 1/4 cups sugar
    • 4 eggs
    • 2 tbsp orange juice
    • 3 tsp vanilla
    • 5 1/4 cups flour
    • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    • 3/4 tsp baking soda

    Directions

    1. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar
    2. Add 2 eggs
    3. Beat well
    4. Beat in the orange juice and vanilla
    5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and baking soda
    6. Gradually add to the creamed mixture
    7. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until easy to handle
    8. Roll the dough into 1 1/4 inch balls
    9. Shape each into a 6-inch rope
    10. Fold in half and twist twice
    11. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets
    12. In a small bowl, beat the remaining eggs
    13. Brush over the dough
    14. Bake at 350 F for 7-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown
    15. Remove to wire racks
