    Ingredients

    • 1 cup water
    • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
    • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
    • 2 cups all purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    • 1 teaspoon fine grain sea salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon dry oregano
    • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
    • 4 tablespoons butter
    • 1/2 tablespoon garlic salt

    Directions

    1. Stir together the water and sugar. Pour the yeast over the water and give it a stir (no need to dissolve it). Let that sit for 5 minutes. It should bubble and get foamy, that means the yeast is alive and working.
    2. In a bowl combine the flours, salt and oregano. Pour in the yeast mixture and oil. Stir until a dough ball forms (if you're using a stand mixer use the dough hook attachement). Knead for 5-6 minutes, until the dough becomes elastic-like. Place in a light greased bowl, cover and allow to rise for 1 1/2 hours.
    3. Roll out on a lightly floured surface. Place on your baking sheet that has been lightly dusted with flour or cornmeal. Now here's the really important part: melt the butter and stir in the garlic salt. Brush the entire crust with the garlic butter mixture. Now bake at 400°F for 5 minutes. Brush with any remaining garlic butter and add your sauce, cheese and toppings. Bake for an additional 8-10 minutes until the cheese begins to bubble.
