    Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 1 cup butter, softened
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tbsp grated lemon peel
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • Glaze: 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    • 1/4 tsp lemon juice
    • grated lemon

    Directions

    1. Heat the oven to 400 F. Combine all the cookie ingredients in a large bowl.
    2. Beat at low speed, scraping the bowl often, until well mixed.
    3. Drop the dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
    4. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
    5. Meanwhile, combine all the glaze ingredients in a small bowl.
    6. Stir until smooth.
    7. Frost the warm cookies with the glaze.
    8. Sprinkle with the grated lemon peel, if deisred.
