  • French Bread

    Ingredients

    • 3 c. flour
    • 1 packet yeast
    • 3/4 t. salt
    • 1 c warm water

    Directions

    1. Add 1 packet yeast to warm water. Start with 2 cups flour and mix all ingredients together. Add additional 1 cup flour as needed. Once combined, knead dough 8-10 minutes. Place in greased bowl and cover. Let rise until double in size. Punch down and let rest for 10 minutes.
    2. Roll into rectangle. Starting at the long end, roll up into loaf (jelly roll style). Grease and dust cookie sheet with corn meal and place bread on top. Let rise a second time 30-40 minutes.
    3. Pre-heat oven to 375 and cut slits in top of bread. Brush with egg white and water to create brown color. Bake 15 minutes. Let cool slightly before slicing.
