Florry's Homemade Biscuits
I have tried so many biscuit recipes, and none seem to be flaky and turn out like hockey pucks . So, I made up my own recipe and they turned out great! The secret is the fresh baking powder and butter, not shortening or margarine. Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons fresh baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5 to 6 tablespoons softened butter,not melted
- 3/4 cup whole or 2% milk
Directions
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in softened butter until it resembles crumbs
- Add the milk all at once, and blend only until thoroughly combined.
- Turn out on a floured board, and roll out about 1/2 inch thickness
- Cut with a three inch biscuit cutter
- Arrange on an ungreased cookie sheet
- Bake in preheated oven of 450 degrees for exactly 12 minutes.
- Makes around 7 large biscuits.
- Good for chicken and biscuit or to serve with hearty soups, etc.
- If add sugar, can use for strawberry shortcake
