Double Fudge Cream Cheese Brownies
Unknown source - a magazine clipping from many years ago. Ingredients
- Brownies:
- 1 cup butter
- 4 - (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- For the Filling:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 3-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Heat the oven to 350 F
- In a 2 quart saucepan, combine 1 cup of butter and the unsweetened chocolate
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until melted - about 4 to 6 minutes.
- Stir in the remaining brownie ingredients except the chocolate chips
- Fold in the chocolate chips
- Spread half of the batter into a greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
- In a small bowl, stir together all the filling ingredients
- Spread over the brownie mixture
- Spoon the remaining batter over the cream cheese
- Note: Batter will not entirely cover the entire cream cheese mixture
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
