Crockpot Split Pea Soup
Ingredients
- 1 pkt dry green split peas - (16 ounce) rinsed
- 1 x hambone, or possibly 2 meaty hamhocks, or possibly 2 c. diced ham
- 3 x carrots peeled, sliced
- 1 med onion minced
- 2 x celery stalks plus leaves minced
- 1 x garlic clove - (to 2) chopped
- 1 x bay leaf
- 1/4 c. minced fresh parsley (optional)
- 1 Tbsp. seasoned salt or possibly to taste
- 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
- 1 1/2 quart warm water
Directions
- Layer ingredients in slow cooker, pour in water. Don't STIR. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hrs or possibly on LOW 8 to 10 hrs till peas are very soft and ham falls off bone.
- Remove bones and bay leaf. Serve garnished with croutons. Freezes well.
