    Think macaroon with a chocolate kiss - a match made in heaven. These will disappear fast on your valentine cookie tray. Be sure to have chocolate kisses unwrapped and ready to pop onto cookie tops when removed from oven.

    Ingredients

    • 1/3 cup butter, softened
    • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 1 teaspoon almond extract
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 1/4 cups flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 14-ounce package flaked coconut, divided
    • 1 13-ounce package milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped

    Directions

    1. In large bowl cream butter, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and extracts.
    2. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
    3. Stir in 3 2/3 cups coconut. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes or until easy to handle.
    4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll balls in remaining coconut. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
    5. Bake for 11-13 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove from oven and immediately press chocolate kiss into the top of each cookie. Cool for 1 minutes beore removing cookies to wire rack to finish cooling.
    6. Store in air-tight container.
    7. Yield: About 4 1/2 dozen
