Classic Peanut Butter Cookies
This is a very old recipe that I have added or deleted ingredients to suit my taste and my families. These cookies are "to die for". They are that delicious. Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour (I use pastry flour to a delicate taste)
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter (no substitutes)
- 1 cup chunky peanut butter
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 to 3 Butterfinger candy bars, finely chopped
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 F
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a mixer bowl, cream the butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup of the granulated sugar until light and fluffy
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla
- Beat in the finely chopped Butterfinger candy bars.
- Gradually beat in the dry ingredients just until combined
- Shape into tablespoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls
- Roll in the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- Place 3 inches apart onto 2 ungreased cookie sheets
- With a sugar coated tines of a fork, press and flatten each ball, making a criss-cross pattern.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden
- Cool on cookie sheets for 3 minutes
- Transfer to racks to cool completely
