  • Chocolate Fudge Marzipan Squares

    Ingredients

    • 1 can (8-ounce) almond paste
    • 1/3 c. Sweetened condensed lowfat milk
    • 5/8 pkt (12-ounce) Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided (1-1/4 c.)
    • 2/3 c. Sweetened condensed lowfat milk
    • 1/4 c. Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels, reserved from 12-oz package
    • 1/2 tsp Vegetable shortening
    • 36 whl toasted almonds

    Directions

    1. Marzipan Layer: In small bowl, mash almond paste into small pcs. Add in 1/3 c. sweetened condensed lowfat milk; beat well. Refrigeratetill mix is stiff
    2. (about 15 min). Press marzipan layer into foil-lined 8-inch square pan; set aside.
    3. Fudge Layer: Combine over warm (not boiling) water, 1 c. Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels and 2/3 c. sweetened condensed lowfat milk. Stir till morsels are melted and mix is smooth. Pour over marzipan layer.
    4. Refrigeratethoroughly. Invert on board; remove foil.
    5. Garnish: Cumbine over warm (not boiling) water, remaining 1/4 c. Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels and vegetable shortening. Stir till morsels are melted and mix is smooth. Transfer to c.. Dip each almond halfway into melted chocolate. Place on marzipan layer in 6 rows of 6 almonds each. Refrigeratetill set (about 1 hour). Cut into 36 squares. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
    6. Makes 3 dozen squares.
