  • Chocolate Cake With Grand Marnier

    Ingredients

    • 14 ounce Semi-sweet chocolate, minced
    • 3/4 c. Plus 2 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 10 x Egg yolks
    • 1 c. Granulated sugar
    • 1 Tbsp. Vanilla extract
    • 1 Tbsp. Grand Marnier (orange liqueur)
    • 1 tsp Lemon juice
    • 10 x Egg whites
    • 1/2 c. Granulated sugar Powdered sugar
    • 2 c. Heavy cream, whipped

    Directions

    1. Chocolate Cake with Grand Marnier
    2. Heat chocolate and butter in double boiler. Set aside to cold slightly. Beat yolks and 1 c sugar till smooth; stir in vanilla, Grand Marnier and lemon juice. Blend in chocolate mix.
    3. Beat egg whites in large mixer bowl till soft peaks form. Gradually add in 1/2 c sugar; beating till stiff peaks form. Stir 1 c of whites into chocolate mix, then mix in remaining whites.
    4. Pour batter into greased and floured 10 or possibly 12 inch springform pan.
    5. Bake in preheated 250 oven 2 1/2 hrs. (Which's what is says, two and one-half hrs.) Cold completely on rack before removing pan.
    6. Sprinkle cake with powdered sugar. Serve with whipped cream.
    7. Serves10 to 12.
