Chocolate Cake
I'm not sure which one of the Ol' Girls in the family passed down this recipe, but it sure beats a box. Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1-2/3 cups sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup shorting
- 3 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1-1/3 cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. Grease and flour two cake pans.
- Sift together, flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
- Beat together the shorting and the melted chocolate; add half of the milk and continue to beat until blended.
- Add eggs, rest of milk and vanilla; beat for 2 minutes
- Pour batter into cake pans.
- Bake for 35 - 40 min.
