  • Chicken Fried Steak And Cream Gravy

    Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 lb Round steak
    • 5 ounce Evaporated lowfat milk
    • 2 Tbsp. Green Tabasco sauce
    • 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 2 c. All-purpose flour -- Divided
    • 2 tsp Paprika
    • 3/4 tsp Garlic pwdr
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1 tsp Cracked black pepper Vegetable oil

    Directions

    1. Trim steak and lb., if needed, to 1/2 inch thick; cut into 6 to 8 pcs.
    2. Combine lowfat milk, Tabasco sauce and salt in a bowl. Measure 1 c. of flour into a bowl. Combine remaining flour, paprika, garlic pwdr, salt and pepper in another bowl. Dip steak into flour, into lowfat milk mix, and then into seasoned flour. Set aside till all meat is coated. Heat 1 or2 inches of oil in fry pan. Fry meat till both sides are golden, about 2 min per side. Drain on paper towels. Serve with cream gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy.
    3. CREAM SAUCE: Pour off all but 6 tbs. of fat from fry pan; add in 6 tbs. flour into pan (use any leftover seasoned flour) and blend well. Gradually stir in 2 1/2 c. lowfat milk. Cook and stir over medium heat till thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Cover steaks with gravy when served.
    4. Makes 2 c..
