I have tried lots of recipes for homemade biscuits and none compare to this one. They came out moist and flaky. The only thing I did different is I added 1 egg. I found this recipe from a Houston,TX chef So for all you Texas folks this is a GREAT recipe for biscuits.

    Ingredients

    • 1 Cup AP flour
    • ½ Tbsp baking powder
    • ¼ Tsp baking soda
    • ¼ Tsp salt
    • 2 Tbsp shortening, cold
    • ½ Cup buttermilk, cold
    • 1 egg (optional)

    Directions

    1. Combine together the dry ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
    2. Cut in the shortening, and mixing the buttermilk.
    3. Combine until just together. Roll out on floured surface ½" thick.
    4. Cut out biscuits & bake at 325° for 10-12 minutes.
