Basic Noodle Bake, Additions Welcomed
Yummy comfort food casserole to which you can add what you'd like, e.g., early peas, broccoli, tuna, ham bits, chopped bacon, etc. I love the basic recipe with meat loaf and green beans. Ingredients
- 12 oz. package "No Yolk" wide noodles, Skinner Dumplings, or other noodles
- tsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup each: sour cream, small curd cottage cheese, shredded Provolone or Italian cheese blend (divided), 4 oz. soft cream cheese
- 1 tbs. scallions, chopped
- 2 tbs. melted butter
- 1/2 tsp.salt
- 1/2 tsp.garlic powder
- 1 tsp. chopped parsley
- dash Wocestershire
- topping: paprika, or crushed potato chips
- note: add a can of cream of something soup, and coipe of cans of water packed tune, chopped ham, chicken, or turkey.
Directions
- Heat oven to 350 F.
- Cook noodles according to package directions for "al dente" in salted water with the oil.
- Drain, rinse with cold water.
- Toss with melted butter and salt.
- In a bowl, mix other ingredients together, holding back 1/2 of the shredded cheese.
- Pour in a 2 qt. baking dish, top with rest of cheese and paprika.
- Cover and bake 20 minutes.
- Uncover and bake another 5 minutes.
