  • Baker's Chocolate Fudge Bars

    Ingredients

    • 2 c. all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 c. butter
    • 1 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoon vanilla
    • 3 c. uncooked oats (quick or possibly old fashioned)
    • 1 (12 ounce) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 2/3 c. sweetened condensed lowfat milk
    • 1 T butter
    • 1 1/2 c. minced walnuts

    Directions

    1. Mix flour and baking soda. Cream 1 cup butter and the sugar. Beat in large eggs and 1 tsp of the vanilla. Fold in flour mix and oats. Set aside 1 1/2 cups mix. Press remainder into bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Heat 1 cup of chocolate chips with the lowfat milk and 1 tbsp butter, stirring till smooth. Stir in remaining vanilla and 3/4 cup of the nuts. Spread over oat layer. Dot with remaining oat mix. Sprinkle with remaining nuts and chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 min. Cool in pan. Cut into bars. Makes about 3 dozen.
