Apple Dumplings
Talk about delicious...you will not be disappointed in this apple dumpling recipe. I actually prefer to quarter cut the apples and wrap in small pieces of the pastry dough with small amounts of sugar mixture and place them in a 9 X 13 casserole. Continue with syrup directions and baking. It makes it easier to dip out for several people or dinners. Ingredients
- Pillsbury Pastry for a two crust pie
- 4 medium apples, peeled and cored
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 tsp. butter
- ***************************************
- Syrup:
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ cups water
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- ¼ tsp. cinnamon
Directions
- Roll out pastry as for pie and cut in 7 inch squares (need 4 squares).
- Place an apple on each square of dough and fill cavity with sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tsp. butter.
- Bring opposite points of dough up to overlap apple. Moisten to seal. Place dumpling in baking dish.
- Heat syrup to boiling. Pour around dumplings.
- Bake at 400° for 40-45 minutes or until apples are done.
- Dip out & scoop vanilla ice cream on top while hot!
